the new GOP budget cuts are being disputed this week.
Republicans plan on cutting funding for things such as police, greenhouse gas regulation, and anti-TB efforts in poor countries, up to $100 billion.

i am not any of these things. the only way this would worry me in perticular if if the GOP will be making college more expensive. Pres. Obama has vetoed this bill but that doesn't mean the Reps. will quit so were not done seeing this yet.

The South Dakota house has a new bill to discuss that made it through committee. The bill is House Bill 1217 and would increase the steps a women needed to take to get an abortion. It doesn't ban abortions though. There are arguments for both sides saying that it is intruding on the womans rights.

I think that this bill is going in the right direction. Personally I am against abortion so this bill will help decrease the numbers of abortions in South Dakota. If a woman has to go through all those meeting and takes more time to think about the decision it could change her mind.

The recent house bill 1217 has made it through committee and is being moved to the House. This bill wouldn't ban abortion, instead, it would increase the steps a woman would need to take to get one.It would require her to meet with a doctor in person for a complete medical and personal assessment. Once the doctor feels its right, the woman has to wait 72 hours before she can get the procedure.

This bill a great way to reduce the number of abortions that are done because the woman felt pressured by someone else. I hope this bill passes in the house, and moves on to the senate.

House Bill 1003
Representatives Hunt, Gibson, and Lust and Senators Hunhoff (Jean), Hundstad, and Vehle at the request
of the Interim Committee on Rules Review
ENTITLED, An Act to permit the Interim Rules Review Committee to revert a rule if the rule imposes un reasonable costs.

I think that these representatives are doing a good thing for the citizens of South Dakota for trying to eliminate some of the unbearable costs being thrown at us. I hope that it goes through so the recession and cuts wont be as bad for us.

The South Dakota State senate just recently passed a ban on human trafficking. It endorsed a measure that would establish the crime of forced prostitution, labor or slavery. South Dakota is one of a dozen states that have not adopted human trafficking laws. Some supporters say women are brought to South Dakota for prostitution.

This is a great law to pass and I don't see why it wouldn't be a unanimous vote. It protects the rights of women and it makes it so men are not allowed to violate them.

In his inaugural speech Saturday, Daugaard vowed to seek wide-ranging spending cuts to balance the state budget. He said South Dakota must be self-reliant, persistent, determined and frugal.
I think that this is a good idea for our state, but then I dont agree with the education beacuse every time they say hey we need to cut back education comes up most of the time. I dont know how i feel about it.

John thune is trying to block Obamas agenda. He thinks obama is just reaching for more power. Thune say obama has given the nation more government, more debt, fewer jobs and less freedom.

I agree with Thunes thoughts on Obama, he is just trying to get more power so he can control us more and more. if it was up to me i would impeach him.

House Bill 1047 is entitled, An Act to revise certain prairie dog shooting season provisions. The bill was reviewed by Agriculture and Natural Resources passed the bill 12 to 0. The bill was than sent to the House of Representatives where the bill also passed 62 to 7.

I think that this bill should become a law. Because there are many prairie dogs around the hills.

The South Dakota senate has a new bill to discuss. Senate Bill 65 would allow nonpublic schools accredited by certain accrediting agencies other than the Department of Education to become members of the South Dakota High School Activities Association. They are trying to make it open to all schools.

I think that this bill is a good idea. A nonpublic school is still a school and should be allowed to become members of SDHSAA. That way it is far for all the students at those schools to get a chance to actually get to play sports.

My current event is called Proposed South Dakota Law To Legalize Homicide Stirs Controversy. This is a bill that would protect pregnant women from attack. If passed it if a baby dies from attack while the woman is pregnant, then the killing would be difined as a justifiable homicide.

I think this is a good bill but can get over used. It is nice that the government is trying to protect the future children and that should be done. Even though this is to protect the women it could be bad cuz the woman can kill the baby and blame it on somebody else.

HB 1055 prohibits employers from restricting employees who are volunteer emergency
responders in their response to emergencies during working hours.
I think that this bill is a good idea. Volunteer responders should be able to go to the emergencies even when they are at work. There job is important, but it is also important to help others who are in need of it.

The recent house bill 1217 passed in the committe and now is moving onto the House. This bill will not ban abortion. It will increase the steps a woman would need to take to get one.It will require her to meet with a doctor first and get a medical and personal assessment. Once that is completed the women has to wait 72 hours before she can get the operation.

I think that is a good thing to let women make there own choice on what they want to do with there own body.

There is a new house bill out there, bill 1217, it is about abortion but its not about banning it. The Bill just talks about stricter regulations and more steps that a women would have to go through to get an abortion. She would get a full medical evaluation from a doctor and then if the doctor says it is nessesary the women will have to wait for 72hrs.

I think that this bill is a good idea because it will make getting abortions harder.

House Bill 1217 establish certain legislative findings pertaining to the decision of a pregnant mother considering termination of her relationship with her child by an abortion, to establish certain procedures to better insure that such decisions are voluntary, uncoerced, and informed, and to revise certain causes of action for professional negligence relating to performance of an abortion.

I believe that some women who get an abortion are very uninformed about the consequences after the abortion. Women may also feel pressured into it which is not how you should make a decision. I believe that abortion is wrong, personally. By taking steps like these, South Dakota can prevent more abortions throughout the states.

Legislation to temporarily reduce the salary of state lawmakers is scheduled for its first committee hearing Wednesday in the South Dakota House. It would reduce lawmaker salaries by 10 percent, to $5,400, in calendar year 2012.

i think that it would be good to cut the salaries of the state lawmakers because we all have to cut our salaries and pay to make the budget work

Socialists in congress and in the White House may be intent on forcing government health care on the people of America, but the states are no longer the door mats our despotic federal government has become accustomed to.

I personally do not believe you should require health insurance
on a finacial level , and out of respect of some religious beliefs

Three bills seeking to crack down on illegal immigrants have been filed in the Legislature, all patterned after measures already proposed or passed in other states

we should be strict but fair about immigration policies if that makes sense

There is a bill up for debate concerning the pay of represenatives of the state. The plan for this bill if it passed is to cut the pay of represenatives and senators by 10%.

I feel this would be good thing for our state because of the ammount of money we will save. Senators and Represenatives shouldn't be paid large ammounts of money because usually, they don't listen to the citizens of the state or country anyway.

I think that being a politician would get tiring. And a lot of people are always watching everything you do.

The firework bill is being launched in South Dakota again, which would allow fireworks from Dec 23 to Jan 2. After being vetoed by the governor last year, it will be looked at again this year.

I like the bill and i think it should pass. Everyone loves fireworks so why not allow them for celebration? Some people obviously wont like this bill but there is always someone that will oppose.

House Bill 1229-
This will lift a ban on school districts needing 100 or more students in order to stay open. It just passed in the House Education Committee with a vote of 10-3.

I think this is a good thing. Just because a school is small doesn't mean it can't still be a good school. Kids should be able to go to a school that is nearby their home. I have talked to people from west river that have to drive over an hour each day, on all gravel roads, because their school was closed. Then they had to travel to the next nearest school, and with no main road around, they have quite a drive each day.

They tried to pass a bill that medically untrainded midwives could deliver a child at ones home. It did not pass.

I think it is good that it did not pass. There is a reason for hospital much more deaths of both mother and child would occur without medical attention. Hospitals are a blessing we should use them.

The house just passed a bill saying that schools with fewer than 100 students no longer have to consolidate. This allows more schools to be open. The rule before was that if a school had fewer than 100 students, it would have to consolidate with another school.

I think that it is a good and bad thing. I believe that everyone should be able to go to the school that they want to, whether it has 1000 students or 100, but I also think that it costs the government money to keep them open as well.

The legislature is considering a human trafficking law over the past couple of months. This bill would be an end to using force, fraud, or coercian to make any person to partake in prostituion or involuntary servitude.

I think it is an abomination that this is even going on in our state. The idea that there are people out there actually being used for sex and used as slaves sickens me deeply. I am glad that this bill is en route to being passed, but I feel this disgusting crime shouldn't have been taken care of long ago. I hope we are potentially able to put an end to it all.

i think this is wrong if you are a volunteer responder you should be able to leave work to respond to whatever has happened. You are volunteering your life to help others, not many people are willing to just volunteer.

South Dakota is voting on if that they might legalize killing abortion providers. It says the provider might have to be killed, if the person provided an abortion.

I dont really agree with this because it is the mothers decision if she wanted it or not. Of course, the provider is resposible but it's the mothers also. But i do agree if the provider pushes the mother into it or does it without her consent. There are a lot of ideas about this bill.

South Dakota house bill 1171 says that anyone who wants to have an abortion has to wait seventy two hours after requesting one. This also requires that the women goes through counseling before the abortion is administrated.

I think this is a great bill. It makes it harder for people to kill their unborn babies. It also lets people who want it able to get it. I think that there are some points like rape where it is ok for the person to perform this act.

I think that it is a good idea because with out volunteer emergency responders some town would not have help right away so it is a to allow them to be there when they are needed
