Democratic legislative leaders on Thursday criticized Dennis Daugaard's plan to continue giving refunds on construction taxes to large industrial projects. Bernie Hunhoff said the Republican governor's proposal could cost $15 million a year at a time when the money should instead be used to soften budget cuts in education and health care for poor people.

A bill to better protect the community from sex offenders will be discussed at the legislative session in Pierre. It will shorten the time sex offenders have to register after they move, from 5 to 3 days. So far, no one has voted against the bill.
I think this is a good bill to pass, because it keeps communities safe to know right away when a new sex offender has moved into their area.
Jetlev, the new water-powered jetpack. It has a maximum speed of 22mph, and a max height of 30 feet. It is on sale now for $136,000.

In South Dakota, the Medicaid cuts are extremely important to the older South Dakotans and with the cut it will have a determental effect on the access and the care for them. It may also target low income seniors by reducing or eliminating the Elderly and Disabled Tax credit.
I think this is a bad deal. The elderly need the medicaid for their care. They say that thier going to support a measure to require mandatory reporting of elder abuse.
In Portuguese, Maria de Jesus died at the age of 115. She was the oldest living person. She never went to school and was married and had 6 children. She loved working in agriculture and her sister says she has never been ill.
That is crazy, living until 115 years. She must haved loved life to the fullest and had great health. I don't want to live that long, wow. lol
They are taking up a bill on juvinile "sexting" in the legislature. It defines two different types, where one someone takes a explicit photo with out the other person's permission and distributes it. The bill will specify how the juvinile would be handled in court. They wouldn't need to register as a sex offender, and it covers ages 12-17.
I think it is good that the legislature realizes how technology has come along and what kids are doing with it. There should be consiquenses for juviniles doing this. I also agree that they shouldn't need to register as a sex offender at the ages of 12-17.
The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerburg, is being stalked on Facebook. He filed a restraining order against the 31 year old that is stalking him. The man stalking him has been asking for money to help his family.
I think it is funny that the founder of a social networking site is being stalked. He is the one that made up the site to pretty much stalk people. Isn't that the point of Facebook, to always know where people are and what they are up to.
The senate voted today on whether or not they would keep aeronautics within NASA. It passed and NASA will remain authorized to study and research aeronautics. The other option would be turn turn the right over to other unsaid agencies.

A baby boy was found in an arena toilet after a circus in South Carolina by a custodian. The baby at that time was thought to be just an hour old. The identity of the mother is unknown but the baby is presently doing ok.
That is totally rediculous! I can't believe no one noticed or reported it. Whoever this lady is, is sick and wrong to have just left a child lying in a toilet to die. Only at a circus!
They had proposed a bill saying that everyone over the age of 21 had to own a gun. This bill was only created as a stab at "Obamacare" mocking the fact that he thinks everyone should be required to have heath insurance, and that they thought it was the same as everyone having to own a gun. This bill was voted against.
I think it is stupid that our legislators are wasting time just to create a bill none of them have any intentions of potentially inforcing. It was nonsensical to even imagine that such a bill would be comparable to health care. They are both very different aspects of life.
A mother in Tampa Bay, Florida confessed to killing her two teenage children. She wrote a note before and after the killing of her children. Both notes were completely devoid of emotion and she was upset by the fact that Florida gun laws made her wait three days after the purchase of a gun until she could have her weapon. She shot her two kids, because "they were mouthy, and she didn't want to deal with it anymore." The father had been serving time in the Middle East and will speak at the children's funeral in Ft. Worth, Texas. The mother had immediately confessed to the slaying of both of her kids, and was charged with two accounts of first degree murder.
This story is extremely disturbing and yet again brings me to believe that gun laws should be much more strict. I feel as if a mental stability test should be taken before anyone is allowed to even purchase a weapon. This women was clearly mentally unstable, and should not have been allowed to purchase a weapon at all. Her children were your average teenagers and now because of loose gun laws and a pshycotic mother these children are never going to get to lead the lives they were destined to lead. The world is a disgusting place, if only we could clean it up to make it so all could live in a peaceful state of being.
A bill that would outlaw texting has passed in the Senate from a 6-1 vote on Tuesday. If a person is caught texting while driving they will be punished for 30 days in jail and a $500 fine to compose, read or send a text message while driving. This bill would not prohibit the use of cell phones. Texting in the vehicle can only happen in case of emergency, when the person is legally parked, or if the person is using hands free technology. This bill’s goal is to reduce accidents.
I don’t think this bill can go into full effect because it will be hard to catch a person while texting. I think more accidents will happen now because people will try to hide their phone and have to keep looking at it. It would be safer if people held their phone up by the steering wheel. Also, the fine and punishment is a lot. 30 days in jail for sending a text and a $500 fine is a little overwhelming, but if people know the consequences then maybe they wont even send a text.
My other current event is called “New app helps Catholics confess on the go.” This is a $2 app that is now available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. They say that this app is not suppose to replace confessionals, but just have people write their sins into their device. It is a password protected to help keep their sins private.
I think this is ridiculous. Sure it puts the problem on the persons conscience, but it is not a confessional. People should still confess and repent from their sins instead of typing it out on their electronic device.
