Current Event Week of Oct 25th- Due Friday Oct 29th.
Find two current events (One political and one odd current event) and write two paragraphs for each one. One a summary and one a reflection. Four total paragraphs on two current events:
*Iraq's former prime minister,Tariq Aziz will be exicuted by hanging. this punishment is for his role in the persicution of Shi'ite political parties.Aziz had been charged with helping to kill, imprison or exile leaders of the Islamic Dawa party of current Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
i didn't really know who this is but i don't think a lot of people did. anyway from the sound of what he did i would say that im not to surprised.http://www.voanews.com/english/news/Former-Iraqi-Foreign-Minister-to-Hang-105755578.html
*apparently, according to many people, middle-aged women look bad with long hair. the author of this article talks about how all of her freinds and famliy thinks her 55-year-old self looks bad with long hair but she seems to like it.
i guess i dont really care about the hair length to age ratio. ive not ween many middle aged women with long hair. i probably have but i just don't remember so i cant make a fair judgement right now.http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/24/fashion/24Mirror.html
Frank Caprio the Rhode Island Democrat who told President Barack Obama to "shove it" after learning he wouldnt endorse anyone in the gubernatorial race stood by his words today and said hed be "happy to field his call" if Obama decided to endorse him. Obama visited Rhode Island on Monday to promote his small business bill and lend a hand in Democratic fundraising but the White House said Obama would not endorse anyone in the governors race. After hearing that news Caprio told radio station WPRO early Monday that Obama can "take his endorsement and shove it." this is a sign of weakness in our country because its showing that even we as citezens cant just listen to our leader and trust him to make the best chooice. it might look to some people as if we are slowly falling apart.
Under a new law the Australian government is demanding visitors Down Under declare to border officials any "illegal" pornography they are bringing into the country. Afraid of breaking the law an Australian couple returning home from an overseas honeymoon felt obliged to show customs officials naked photos of themselves. this just shows how scared we are after 9/11. Everyathing is being over done and people are taking the law to far, when will they stop because pretty soon we arent even going to be aloud to have clothes while on the plane.
Political: Rhode Island Democrat David Cicilline is the openly gay mayor of Providence. Cicilline is running to fill Rep. Patrick Kennedy's seat in the 1st Congressional District. If elected, he would become the fourth openly gay member in the House.
I think it is great that Rhode Island was accepting of a gay mayor and its awesome that he is running for even more political seats.
Odd: Police discovered four sets of infant remains at a Pennsylvania house in July.A fifth set of infant remains was found in a landfill. DNA tests showed a woman to be the mother of at least four of the infants. She was charged Monday with criminal homicide.
I found this current event more disturbing than odd. Who would have four kids just to kill them and keep them in your closet?? I am glad the lady was found and prosecuted.
On Saturday a baby was killed while "fleeing the devil". Other family members were also injured in the escape. A family in a Paris suburb jumped from their third floor balcony. They said they were escaping the man in their apartment they believed was the devil. The man they thought was the devil was also injured.
I think this story shows how weird some people are and how much they don't think before they act. Why would someone jump from a balcony with a baby in their arms? ------------------------------------------------------------------ The senate race in Alaska is getting interesting and bitter. The outside interest in the election is unpredictable because of the millions of dollars coming into the state to produce nonstop TV and radio ads. They expect this race to be very close and take longer to determine the winner.
I think that close races in anything is cool because it makes it more of a competition. The thing I don't like about politics is how the ads turn into negative things about their competitors. I think it would make a nominee look better if they made positive ads about themself instead.
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/10/25/nearly-40-million-in-one-day-political-spending-smashes-record/ Political: Outside political groups spent $39.8 million dollars last tuesday on elections. This smashed the old record of $24.3 million set on Oct. 12th. Carl Forti, a consultant, said Tuesdays are the days that TV gets paid. All that money bought numerous television and radio commercials as well as billboards into the house and senate races. Colorado is the number one target for outside spending with $3.6 million dollars.
I think this shows how much money we spend and how we think it is just ok. We are already in a lot of debt but we just keep spending the money. ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.aolnews.com/weird-news/article/the-ultimate-all-nighter-tyler-shields-tries-to-stay-awake-for-40-days/19685154 Odd: A man, Tyler Shields, is trying to pull the ultimate all nighter. He is trying to stay awake for 40 days. So far, he has stayed awake for 38 and is crushing the old record of 19. He says he wants to go for 40 days so it is impossible for others to beat his record. He was fine until day 25, then he started getting sick and feeling numbness in his legs. He still goes to work and goes on with he is just really tired.
I think it is very unhealthy to do this to yourself. He could of just tried to beat the record of 19 and he might of been fine but 40 days without sleep has to take a large toll on your body and is not good for it.
My first current event has to deal with politics. In this artical it talks about how much media such as newspapers and television are consumed by politics. There is a chart on the artical that shows the percentages that the news spends on each subject. The Elections are 60% talked about while things like the economy and muslim make together only 15% of the news. I agree that the news does spend alot of time talking about politics and the elections. Every time you watch tv they always give their opinion on who they think will win and why. Although since elections are being held in one week, I can also see why they are pushing for certain people to win.
My second current event is titled "Dropped phone leaves man otherwise engaged in toilet." This artical is mainly what it says. A Chinese man had dropped his phone into the toilet and got his arm stuck after attempting to get his phone back. His whole arm was down in the toilet when officiers arrived at this house. They said that his whole arm other than his shoulder was in the drain. After they broke the toilet completely, the man was able to remove both his arm and his phone. I think that this man must love his phone way too much! I would never stick my arm down the toilet to get it out. I would probably call someone to get it out then I would throw that phone away and buy a new one.
My first current evnet is about a large Stag being shot. A huge red stag named Exmoor Emperor was shot dead. Dubbed as the biggest wild land animal in the UK, stands 9 feet tall and weigh about 300 lbs was shot by a licensed hunter. Deer lovers in Exmoor are increasing worried number of rich sportspeople coming to Exmoor to shoot its finest stags as trophies. Although was legal Exmoor Emperor's death has reportedly angered animal activists and wildlife experts, who believe the wild stags should receive protection during their mating season.
I do understand why the people are angry because of the large animal being killed when they want to protect them. If all you are doing is going out to shoot animals for trophies, dont always go for the biggest ones. The big animals are the ones who will be able to help replenish the populations of animals.
my second current event is called why independent voters are abandoning democrats.Self-described independents may have backed Barack Obama in 2008, but they aren’t happy with much of what Democrats have accomplished since then.
I agree with these independent voters because there has not been much good brought from the obama administration. the health care reform bill is turning out to be a big problem. the Republican party is now gainign votes because of the obama administration messing up as much as they are
my current event is about a boozer kangaroo who lives in australia and drinks an acoholic bevrage made from apples. the kangaroo was rescued an dkept in a sock tell it got old.
I find this very funny, that people care about a kangaroo drinking alchol they sholud be worrying about other stuff
Odd: http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/worldcup/story/Paul-the-predicting-octopus-dies?Gt1=39002 This article is called "Paul the predicting octopus dies". The octopus which lived in Western Germany, correcting predicted the outcome of all 7 of Germany's games, including the World Cup. He died of natural causes. He was 2 and a half years old which is old age for an octopus.
Many people had grown found of Paul. Many other aquriums wanted him, including Spain. The aquarium hasn'd decided how to commemorate Paul yet, but may be planning to have a private barial area with a shrine for him so all visiters can remember him.
Political: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39834444/ns/us_news-life/?gt1=43001 This article is about a new bullying law that has been proposed in New Jersey. It came into effect after the a Rutgers University student commited suicide because of being bullied. It would require anti-bullying programs in all K-12 schools and and language in Codes of Conduct at Colleges. They would have to form saftey teams, and review who and how bullying is handled.
Bullying is a huge issue everywhere so new laws greatly affect everyone. Bullying is somthing some people look at lightly, until somthing bad happens, like someone comminting suicide because of it. I think its a great idea to have more prevention progams, as well as things that show kids the affect of how they treat others.
3 young men arrested in deadly LA school bus crash a black bwm ran red light hitting a bus and tipping it over. the bus driver and 18 students taken to hospital.
i think this is stupid y run a red light the flee the accident stupid! the y hurt many people and are lucky they were not killed
Cat-nap: U.K. pol’s wife accused of stealing rival’s kitten The wife of a british lawmaker is in court, charged with stilling her husband's lover kitten. The kitten is worth 20 pounds ($31.58). There is a reward for the safe return of the kitten. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/39778549/ns/today-today_pets_and_animals/?gt1=43001 Why would you take a kitten from your husdand's lover to get back at your husband. Is this what the world is coming to. what happened to talkig to your husband or wife. ----------------------------------------- Governor candidates clash on S.D. budget http://www.mitchellrepublic.com/event/article/id/47122/ "Governor traded some of the sharpest charges of their campaign Monday night in a televised debate." Dealing with state budget and education funding. Changes are going to happen, if you electet Democratic nominee Scott Heidepriem. nothing will change if your doing electet him. the aid to school districts has grown by $80 million in the past eight years. Change is a good think some times. we should try to change a little over time. lests make the first step.
Odd- A Chinese man get his arm stuck in a toilet pipe after trying to retrieve his phone. A worker for him leaning over the toilet, the worker broke the porcelain bowl with crowbars and hammered the pipes. The man was no injured.
I think this effects society because many people go after their phone once they drop it in the toilet. I guess now we now that once it down the toilet so far its probably a good idea just to leave it, or you coul end up with your arm stuck in the toilet.
Harry Reid's press women is not being charged for the crime that she commited of marrying a Lebanese man. She got money and he got a free way into our country.
This impacts society because why would you want someone running your state that can't even have hire people who can obey the law. I think that with all of this coming out he will lose the race next Tuesday.
Mississippi Democrat says he didn't vote for Obama. With just a week left until voting day a Mississippi democrat says he didn't vote for Obama and he does not support Nancy Pelosi's agenda.
Gene Taylor has a close reelection coming up. With Obama's disapproval rate at 48% I believe him confessing he didn't vote for Obama may give him the advantange. Him not supporting Nancy in another term as speaker of the house will help to. He will probably swing democrats votes. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Odd- A man called police after buying complaining of purchasing bad marijuana. It wasn't pot.
Governor Mike Rounds is getting set to do another thing for the last time. Rounds is hosting the Governor's Hunt this weekend for the final time as the state's leader. The hunt based out of Pierre is an economic development effort designed to bring in business leaders who might be interested in moving their company. The weekend is a chance to host the business officials in a relaxed atmosphere, shoot some birds and talk business.
This is neat they are getting something done while also having fun. And it is his final time so they should make it memorable. How grand that is!
An estimated one out four mothers suffer from depression after giving birth. And the condition is not only damaging for the new mom, research shows it can also harm an infant's development. Experts say those babies aren't as interactive, they're not as verbal and can grow up to be depressed. The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending pediatricians start screening new moms for depression. And they're urging these doctors to recommend counseling if the mother seems depressed. One way to tell is if the new mom is affectionate toward her baby.
That is scary! I think it is a good idea to start screening for depression. Not only for the health of themselves but also of there newly born child.
1. South Dakota is ranked number one in the maintaining of the most enterprise friendly environment. This ranking shows that we are one of the top states for the lowest unemployment rates. We've actually been adding jobs since 2002.
This current event shows how well South Dakota is handling this recession. I believe the people in office and owner's of the businesses throughout South Dakota are doing a wonderful job at keeping us together in this troubled time.
2. Two dozen zombies staggering around Madison Square Garden on Tuesday morning. Some of the people were startled, some amused, some ignore it, and some took pictures. This whole event was to promote a Zombie TV show that was coming out on AMC.
This amused me, because it would be pretty interesting to be on your way to work and suddenly a swarm of zombies were wandering down the street. As a New Yorker, this sight may not be that odd, but as a South Dakotan we would not be expecting this sort of behavior.
Odd my current event is about how a nudist colony is trying to evict a poor and severely crippled man. they are trying evict him for not being a good neighbor. this man has brittle bones disease which means walking could injure him. he also has a degenerative nervous disorder where he is losing his eye sight and hearing.
nudists claim to be very accepting and dont care about anything bad about you. this is obviously a lie and they continually make excuses for why they want to evict him simply because he is unattractive. they dont even care that this is the only place he can afford to live.
Over 50 million firearms is estimated in Yemen, and 23 million people is thought to have possesion of firearms. Yemen Miniters may sign an order the confiscation of these items.
If this goes the way the Yemen's government wants it to, the people would be left defenseless and may get in an unexcepted war. If not other countries may adopt this idea.
In London, a 53 year old taxi driver sexualy assaulted over 100 women passengers. He was said to attack atleast 90 of the victims, and 12 women bravely testified againest him.
People cant get away with this for long, this prooves no matter how threatening the attack is, you can put him were he/she belongs aslong as you can prove it. Theres probably millions of cases that still need to stand up.
My first current events deals with Florida’s Governor debate which aired last night. Most are describing it as not helpful but disrespectful, and like watching a divorce couple argue who was going to keep the house. In the end the debate answered only a few questions for the voters, which caused the polls to come to a dead stop. I just thoughts that this current event applied to much of what most political candidates are like today, just trying to make the other person look bad.
A 29-year-old man, in a group of 12 "ghost hunters" on a field trip in Iredell County, N.C., in August, was killed by a speeding train. The 12 were investigating a rumored "ghost train" that killed 30 people in an 1891 crash and supposedly returns every year on the anniversary date. I thought that this was a great wired current event because he was killed from the suspected ghost trian!
On Sunday, Charlie Sheen was reported drunk and passed out in a completely trashed hotel room. He states that he lost his phone and wallet, causing him to enter a drinking rage fest.
I think that celbrities need to grow up and not act like apes.
There is plenty of drama within the Alaskan borders concerning the tight senate race. It is a close 3-way race that could get out of hand. There is currently millions being spent on the political ads already and it could get worse.
This shows that we need to worry less on politics and direct more cash flow toward the well being of our society.
Senator Harry Reid is being accused of handing out free food to voter's on one condition, They vote democrat. Sources around Harry Reid and other top liberals are saying that many are becoming very desperate in the uncoming races. This, along with the latest Obama scandal is very unnerving.
I think this is morally wrong, just like what the Obama's were doing a few days ago in voter rallying points. Michelle Obama was sitting in a voting place telling everyone to vote Democrat. Now a democrat is giving out free food? Its outragious! If a person can't win fair, they shouldn't win at all. That's just my thoughts.
A Gay New Jersey man is being deported because his "marriage" isn't recognized as an actual marriage in the state where he currently resides. Henry Velandia and Josh Vandiver married in Montville, Connecticut on August 29, 2010. Now Velandia is in deportation procedings because his visa is up and he isn't legally married to any current US citizen.
This article makes me laugh because I feel the gay couple has it coming to them. New Jersey doesn't legally allow gay marriage so however they were "hitched" was false to begin with. And now they are upset because one of them is facing charges for being here illegally? If they had done everything the legal and proper way, and morally correct way, they wouldn't be dealing with this problem they are facing.
Openly gay House candidate for Rhode Island, David Cicilline, is up by doulbe digits against running competitor, Republican John Loughlin II. This is surprising "in a year when Democrats are widely considered politically handicapped." If he is elected, he will be one of 4 openly gay members of Congress. He has received endorsments and support from groups and people ranging from The Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund to President Obama.
I think it could encourage more openly gay politicians to run for Congress. It may also cause members of society to become more understanding and supportive of gays. Also, some people are very against gayness and they could be very against his election.
"Parents shocked to learn examiner kept son's brain!" Two months after their son's funeral, Andre and Korisha Shipley recieved news from their daughter, Shannon, that members of the forensic science club at her school were on a field trip to the morgue when they saw her brother's brain in a jar labeled Jesse Shipley. "They knew Jesse and he knew them. They were looking at his brain, and his brain was looking right back at them," the father adds. The family agreed to an autopsy but not to burrying their son without his organs.
The couple are now suing the city for the emotional distress caused by the handling of their son's remains. The kids in the forensic science club could be seriously traumatized for a long time. The medical examiner is allowed to keep organs for further use, but i think its very wrong that the examiner didnt inform the family of his intentions and then he proceeded to put the brain on display where Jesse's former classmates could see it.
WEIRD: Paul the psychic, World Cup predictiong octopus died on Wednesday, October 27. During the World Cup this summer he picked the winners of every single match. He died at the age of 2 peacefully during the night.
This type of octopus doesn't live more than a few years, so he had a good, long life. Although many people will be sad, I'm sure many people from the Netherlands are happy, as he picked Spain to beat them in the finals.
POLITICAL: Marking and Noem both challange Herseth Sandlin's voting record. Both say that Washington is broken and the need for someone new in office is at its highest. Stephanie's six years in office needs to come to an end.
With only 5 days until the polls are open, this campaign, and all campaigns around the country, are heating up. Personal attacks have been popular, as well as attacks on the facts. What will South Dakota and American voters decide? The answer will be chosen in 5 days.
My political current event is called "U.S. election ads turn personal — and brutal." It talks about how all the candidates are using their money to make negative ads about their opponets. With U.S. political candidates and outside groups flooding the airwaves with brutal and increasingly personal attacks calling their opponents cheats, liars and kooks — or worse. One of every five Democratic attack ads in this cycle has focused on the personal characteristics of Republicans, up from 12 percent in 2008, the Wesleyan study found, while Republicans have more often focused their negative ads on policy issues.
I think the candidates should worry about getting their oppiions out and not worry about calling the other person names. They should use their money to make positive ads about themselves and not worry as much about the other person.
My current event is about a supposed bomb threat trying to target 2 cargo jets. They both were packed with explosived intended to inflict harm. It has not been said how the U.S. government found out about the plot and the president is taking measures to destroy al' Quaeda in Yemen.
This could have a great impact on society because it is the first time since the war started that the U.S. is targeting an area as big as all of al' Quaeda. I think the president has made a decision that is not the best one he has made but it needs to be done.
My other current event is about some halloween ghost hunters seeking old soldiers in Gettysburg. There have been numerous sightings of ghosts in the haunted town of Gettysburg and orbs hover above the ground in a lot of closed doorways. Around 7,000 soldiers died in the battle of Gettysburg.
This has an impact on society because it can make the non believers believe in ghosts and that there are actual spirits and that the spirit world does actually exist. I, for one, want to visit the haunted town of Gettysburg to see these sightings for myself.
1.) Ads feature what appear to be bloody, dismembered fetuses. The broadcasters must air the ads by qualified candidates for the federal office. The candidate and TV stations have received many complaints about the ads. Missy Reilly Smith, from the district of Columbia, she is running for the post Congressional representative. She makes no apologies for the images in the ads,and they are comparing the photos to Nazi concentration camps. Later on she says that she regrets having two abortions when she was young, and she hopes that she can get the public to ban abortion. They said that the ads were on Youtube and that they had to take them off for the digusting contents.
~I think that that was just wrong and diturbing for the viewers had to view all that and imagine if little kids were watching tv and they saw those ads they would have been scared for the rest of that day and on I'm sure of it. Even though she knows that it was wrong i can't believe that she didn't apolgize for those disturbing images. but now she thinks she will still win the election but who knows. ------------------------------------------
2) A U.S. teenager is dead from falling 30 meters from a viewing platform at Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver. The railing on the bridge was four and a half feet tall. The teen was with a high school graduation group from California when this incident happened. All of his classmates watched the teen fall off the bridge. ~ This has an impact on his family and friends. The teen will be severely missed by all his classmates and his family members. I'am sure it was devistated to watch the teen fall off the bridge and none of his friends couldn't even help him.
1:Obama made Ohio his final campaign stop Sunday in the tumultuous midterm elections, trying to help hard-pressed Democrats in a state that could prove crucial to his fortunes in two years.
This effects peoples choices in society and who they will vote for. I think that when politicians are compaigning they can be very convincing. Even if you didn't like them before you've heard them argue, you may like them afterwards.
2:WASHINGTON – Federal health regulators have decided not to approve an experimental diet pill called Qnexa, which had been touted by many experts as the most promising weight-loss drug in more than a decade.
I believe health benefits are very important to are society. Experimenting with diet pills could be dangarous, I think it's a wise choice that they did not approve it.
http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/erosion-of-wetlands-is-biggest-threat-to-gulf-coast/19691578 For years the Mississippi River delta has faced a threat even more than of a geyser of oil, and for many in coastal wetlands, recovery is a dicey proposition at best. Amid spills and storms, the land in the delta itself is falling away, and some fear that if something isn't done to curb erosion and saltwater intrusion soon, the entire area may just fall into the ocean.
I think oil is important in our society with multiple business' and factorys that rely on it. The oil spill in the gulf has been a huge disater, and it has shown just how major a spill can become.
The moment of truth is approaching for America's two main political parties, which will learn through Tuesday's midterm elections whether Democrats will retain control of the U.S. House and Senate. Republicans would need to gain 39 House seats to control that chamber, and 10 seats in the Senate to take the majority there. All 435 House seats are up for election, as are 37 of the 100 Senate seats.
In our society government and voting elections are very important. This article shows how the democrats are ahead of the republicans on some levels and it impacts our society in a variety of ways. Our leaders represent who we are and what we do.
Anthony Sowell was charged with killing 11 people. All of these people being women, he killed them and they were all found on his property. He picked people mostly from the same neighborhood because people wouldn't really notice they were gone. They lived in a poor neighborhood and were people addicted to drugs and other things, so people were pretty used to them being gone for no reason.
This affects socitey because this man should have never been able to kill 11 people over 2 years and no one noticing. He burried them in his yard- someone should have noticed that. People should pay more attention to those around them.
Political- The elections are finally almost here. Costing about $3.5 billion, it is the most expensive mid-term campaign ever. THey are expectign that Republicans are going to make big gains. Many people are angry at the attacks of different people against teh others, and want to make a change. This influences society because it talks about who is going to run our country. How our contry is ran influences all of us, in our every day lives.
In San Francisco, a gay rights group that successfully sued to overturn the militarys "don't ask, don't tell" policy said that the national security would not be irreparably harmed by allowing gays to serve openly. The three judge panel is now considering whether to extend the ban during the appeal by the federal government. The log cabin group argued that the Obama administration has not proven that allowing gays in uniform would be problematic. I think that the gays should want what they want. They want to serve openly. It might make lots of people mad but it's who they are.
My second is Stuart Hughes, a British jewler is known of his expensive gadgets. This time he made a diamond-clad iPhone 4 with a price tag of 8 million dollars. It contains about 500 individual diamonds that totals more than 100 carats. There is 53 more diamonds in the back. The main navigation is made of platinum with a single cut 7.4 carat pink diamond. Only two of these will ever be made. This is soo crazy!! An 8 million dollar phone? It just shows how our world is growing and our technology is really increasing. When people see this, they want to have that phone.
*A Pennsylvania woman was charged Monday with criminal homicide after forensic tests showed her to be the mother of four infants whose remains were found in her home in July, and she was also to a fifth set of infant remains found in a nearby landfill. Kalina's teenage daughter first contacted authorities on July 29, unsure of what she had discovered in the living room closet.
"These remains were stored in a living room closet and each infant was recovered from an individual plastic container," according to the district attorney's statement. "One of the containers contained an amount of cured cement, which was later determined to have encased the remains of one of the infants."
Her DNA matched positively with 4 of the 5 remains and her boyfriend with three.
-This is horrible! I believe this effects society greatly because it puts fear in people. It's hard to believe that there are people in our world that are actually like that. I can't imagine anyone doing that to a helpless child, or anyone at that. Some people need to grow up and take some responsibility for their actions. You may think that you are taking the easy way out but no matter what it will catch up with you!
-------------------------------------------------
*6 things you wont believe can brainwash you on election day!!! -Who weighs more -Where you vote -Sports Results -Order in which names are listed in -Weather -Your Genes
I think that we should not let little things influence our voting, unless it really has to do with the campains and the people itself!!!
Quantas had to make an emergency landing with their airbus A380 after one of the superjumbo engines blew out an engine on thursday. shooting flames and raining large metal chunks before making a safe emergency landing in singapore.
A 15-month-old baby girl survived a fall from a seventh-floor apartment in Paris after bouncing off a cafe awning and into the arms of a passer-by
Political- With impressive electoral votes at the beginnig of his campgin. President Obama was held with high expectantions for the nation. but as it seems that he and his party have a low number in octber that i think factored into the midterm electons.
The low number I think is a sign that people didn't know what they were in for and now they don't like what he is doing as a leader which I believe that will effect the presidentatl race in 2012
Odd In San Diego made the largest marijuana seizures in the United States, more then 20 tons of pot was smuggled into the country through underground tunnels. the marijuana is to be calmied at 20 million if sold seperate on the streets of San Diego.
I think it is a bad deal that mexico smuggles drugs into America and tries to sell it to America people to make money i think that it is just wrong to do
http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/11/04/rollins.palin.2012/index.html Sarah Palin is said to be a frontrunner for the 2012 Presidential Election. She's been receiving a lot of positive media attention and this would only help her out more in her race. Also helping Palin out is the fact that she's already a household name in the United States. I believe this effects our society because it's our next president possibly! Also this would be the first time we have a female president. I'm sure Sarah Paline has some good ideas just like anybody else running for president and it will be interesting to watch her campaign for 2012.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/don_banks/11/03/randy-moss-titans/index.html Randy Moss was claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans. This will be his third team so far into this season and it's only week 9. Randy Moss could be the only guy ever in NFL history to score a touchdown with three different teams in one season. This is what the Titans are hoping for. This effects society because we live in an area where there's a lot of Minnesota Vikings fans. They all believed having Randy back in town was a big help for them but it turned out to just hurt them more. Randy Moss leaving Minnesota now is effecting whether Brad Childress will even have a job in the near future.
Kristi Noem, candidate for South Dakota’s lone congressional seat, released a new television ad today highlighting Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin’s change of tune when it comes to negative personal attacks. “Congresswoman Herseth Sandlin made her opposition to negative personal attacks a central part of her early campaigns. Now with polls showing her down, she’s ditched her stance against negative personal attacks and proving herself willing to do anything to cling to her seat,” said Noem Campaign Manager Joshua Shields. THis shows that the race for congress woman was a heated race between these to canidates. This race turned ugly and eventually turned into just attacks of eachother that went both way.
For 5 years, Tiger Woods was the number one golfer in the world. After troubles with his knee and relationship issues at home, his golf game crumbled. Just recently Westwood took the lead for number one golfer, and there are three others that are right there to take it. Phil Mickelson being one of them who has followed in Tigers footsteps for so long. I think that Tiger needs to turn it around and start playing like we all know he can. I feel that if Tiger doesn't win it back that Phil should get it considering he has been number two for so long. The exciting world of golf.
Sarah Palin recently made a statement about how the price of groceries are going up in America. A reporter found an error in her statement and corrected it in his article. Instead of accepting this Sarah Palin lashed out at the reporter, and took a quote from one of his articles about the price of groceries, but left out key words in the sentence that would prove his theory right. The argument is still continueing. I think she should apologize to the reporter, and grow up.
A snow storm in Minnesota on Saturday caused 400 crashes. The storm also is said to have caused 2 deaths from a car accident. Minnesota got several inches. I am distressed to see that there are already this many crashes this early in the winter season.
I apologize about this I could have sworn I had done this but it mustn’t have posted or something, but here it is redone.
President Obama issued a statement Friday morning praising Liu Xiabao, this year's Nobel Peace honoree. Obama, who heralded past Nobel laureates Aung San Suu Kyi, Bishop Desmond Tutu, and Jose Ramos Horta in his statement, said Liu was “far more deserving” of the award than he was. Liu, an imprisoned Chinese dissident, is currently serving an 11-year sentence for what the Chinese government calls “inciting subversion of state power.” The award was presented to him Friday in absentia. He was represented by an empty chair at the ceremony in Oslo, Norway.
I find it interesting how President Obama awarded the prize even when the recipient wasn’t there to actually receive it.
Dortmund Germany has issued a new “pleasure tax.” This new tax requires prostitutes in Dortmund to purchase a 6 euro "day ticket" for each day they work, or face a potential fine. They considered several other sex taxes but they figured this one was best suited.
This is an odd source of income if you ask me but they did have a fair amount of income that they said they would be getting so I guess it’s up to them.

After hearing that news Caprio told radio station WPRO early Monday that Obama can "take his endorsement and shove it."
this is a sign of weakness in our country because its showing that even we as citezens cant just listen to our leader and trust him to make the best chooice. it might look to some people as if we are slowly falling apart.

The senate race in Alaska is getting interesting and bitter.
I think it would make a nominee look better if they made positive ads about themself instead.
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/10/25/nearly-40-million-in-one-day-political-spending-smashes-record/
Political: Outside political groups spent $39.8 million dollars last tuesday on elections.
We are already in a lot of debt but we just keep spending the money.

http://www.aolnews.com/weird-news/article/the-ultimate-all-nighter-tyler-shields-tries-to-stay-awake-for-40-days/19685154
Odd: A man, Tyler Shields, is trying to pull the ultimate all nighter.

Odd: http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/worldcup/story/Paul-the-predicting-octopus-dies?Gt1=39002
This article is called "Paul the predicting octopus dies".

This article is about a new bullying law that has been proposed in New Jersey.

Governor candidates clash on S.D. budget
http://www.mitchellrepublic.com/event/article/id/47122/
"Governor traded some of the sharpest charges of their campaign Monday night in a televised debate." Dealing with state budget and education funding.

Odd- A man called police after buying complaining of purchasing bad marijuana. It wasn't pot.
One question why would you call the police??

Odd
my current event is about how a nudist colony is trying to evict a poor and severely crippled man. they are trying evict him for not being a good neighbor. this man has brittle bones disease which means walking could injure him. he also has a degenerative nervous disorder where he is losing his eye sight and hearing.
nudists claim to be very accepting and dont care about anything bad about you. this is obviously a lie and they continually make excuses for why they want to evict him simply because he is unattractive. they dont even care that this is the only place he can afford to live.
WEIRD:
Paul the psychic, World Cup predictiong octopus died on Wednesday, October 27.
POLITICAL:
Marking and Noem both challange Herseth Sandlin's voting record.

2) A U.S. teenager is dead from falling 30 meters from a viewing platform at Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver.
Experimenting with diet pills could be dangarous, I think it's a wise choice that they did not approve it.
http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/erosion-of-wetlands-is-biggest-threat-to-gulf-coast/19691578
For years the Mississippi River delta has faced a threat even more than of a geyser of oil, and for many in coastal wetlands, recovery is a dicey proposition at best.
Political-
The elections are finally almost here.

In San Diego made the largest marijuana seizures in the United States, more then 20 tons of pot was smuggled into the country through underground tunnels. the marijuana is to be calmied at 20 million if sold seperate on the streets of San Diego.
I think it is a bad deal that mexico smuggles drugs into America and tries to sell it to America people to make money i think that it is just wrong to do

Sarah Palin is said to be a frontrunner for the 2012 Presidential Election. She's been receiving a lot of positive media attention and this would only help her out more in her race. Also helping Palin out is the fact that she's already a household name in the United States.
I believe this effects our society because it's our next president possibly! Also this would be the first time we have a female president. I'm sure Sarah Paline has some good ideas just like anybody else running for president and it will be interesting to watch her campaign for 2012.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/don_banks/11/03/randy-moss-titans/index.html
Randy Moss was claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans.
