The Republican takeover of the House is good news for your 401(k). Historically, Wall Street has rallied an average of 15 percent in years when the president was a democrat and there was a republican majority in Congress.Gridlock is actually welcomed on Wall Street. "They're hoping it's going to spike the economy so we create more jobs, cut out the under employment, so we can pay employees what they're worth and they can invest more money in economy by going and taking family out to eat, buy a new car, invest back in and get money moving," Rob Huber of First Financial said.
I beilive that it may help in the long run.I just hope that it works and they go through it. When you think about it there are alot of people out of jobs and they need somewhere to work. This will provide they new jobs and bring in money for there familys.
when returns started coming in for tuesday's U.S. house race things didn't look good for kristi noem, she lost east river. But while the democrat won east river counties by almost 7000 votes, noem won all that back in pennington county alone where she was up by more than 7800 votes. altogether, west river counties voted republican by more than 13000 votes, giving noem a 15-point lead that held up to deliver the election. it is very obvious the political point of veiw from east river to west river. they helped bring noem into office by a landslide from there side of the river which helped her win by 2 points.
QANTAS last night grounded its fleet of six A380s after an engine on flight QF32 leaving Singapore was ripped apart by an explosion. The aircraft was six minutes into the flight to Sydney and at 6000ft on the critical, high-energy climb when the engine came apart.
this happened in Austrailia last night. many people were rushed to the next available plane, both for their satfy and so that they could reach their destination. this was the first engine explosion for this type of airplane so i don't think people need to worry that much about it.
The election has banned smoking in public places such as bars, resteraunts, casinos or video lottery establishments. On November 10 you will no onger be able to smoke in public places. Many people worry about their businesses going under because people cant smoke in their establishments.
I think that the smoking ban should not be used because i feel like its infringing on peoples rights. I mean if you dont wanna smell like smoke after going into a resteraunt or bar then dont go in there in the first place. And owners should be aloud to decide what they wanna do, the bought the propery so why should they have to get told what to do in their bars and resteraunts. i think its dumb.
Kristi Noem won the House seat in South Dakota. She beat Stephanie Herseth Sandlin who had won her last two re-election bids by big margins. This race drew alot of media because of the advertising both did to expose the other. Noem won with 48 percent of the votes.
I think by electing Noem as our Congress women it shows that our state wants a change. She is also a Republican and she is one of the many elected around the country. She helped balance the power in Washington.
"Noem Reflects on Campaign, Looks Forward" The four year state lawmaker defeats Stephanie Herseth Sandlin in the U.S. House race on Tuesday. Noem says, "Because this is all new to us, the first time I've run a statewide campaign, won a big victory, it's exciting for us." When in Washington, Noem says she wants to serve on the agricultural committee. She will also work on bills, but no specifics yet. Noem and the rest of the 112th Congress will be sworn into duty on January 3, 2011.
I think Kristi Noem is a great representitive for South Dakota. She is focused on helping our state and agriculture. Everything she does we be whats best for South Dakota.
In New Hampshire a robber went into a store and slipped the desk clerk a note, saying "Give me all the money, or die" and at that time the delivery guy, Greg Geden, happened to be near by and grabbed the quickest thing he could in the store. A Squash! He than slammed it over the suspect,Sean Cullen, and let the man fall to the floor.
I think Greg Geden did a very great brave thing, a lot of people would get scared are not stand up to the guy, or help anyone in need. I think if was smart to act on impulse and grab the squash!
With a major cut-back on the democratic numbers in the Senate Republicans basically threatened democrats to embrace their ideas or they would have a greater loss in numbers. Obama thinks that there will be many disagreements over certain topics but he feels that there will be some agreements on energy.
Obama also doesn't understand why the Republicans keep wanting more tax cuts because he said they've cut taxes from 2001-2009. However he believes that there should be on an agreement to give tax breaks to buisnesses.
My article is about the newly passed smoking ban. In the article it talks about both sides of the ban; those who are happy it passed and those who are not. One bar owner says he will not enforce it by calling the police, just by simply telling people they cant. He also states how people still don't believe it will hurt business's. The other side of it talks about how people may be more apt to go out to such places becase they know they wont have to deal with the smoke.
I personally think the ban is great. While I understand both sides of it, I believe in the long run it will be good for everyone. I think more people are going to want to go to these places knowing now they won't be inhaling smoke. I think it could too help more people quit smoking because they know they really can't smoke anywhere but outside. Society is greatly affected by this, but the people chose to have the ban put in place, and I believe the impact will be for the good.
Refered law 12 appeared on the November 2,2010 ballot in South Dakota as a veto Referendum where it was approved. The refeerendum called for placing an approved expanded smoking ban that was set to begin July 1, 2009 on the statewide ballot.
http://keloland.com/NewsDetail6162.cfm?Id=106709 South Dakota Goes Smoke Free There was about 100,000 diffrent from yes to no. South Dakota is smoke free in bar, restronts and other places. The owner that alow smoking say they will lose custemer now. No smoking signs will start showing up in binssess in town that allow smoking.
I think it is a good think this pasted. so you can go to a place and not smell like smoke after words. It will be a good thing for people how cant stand the smell of smoke around them.
My Current event is about our new house rep. Kristi Noem and her view on the health reformand what needs to be done: Is enough being done to reform health care? If not, what needs to be done?
Kristi says that she supports repealing the health care bill. It will put the government inbetween patient and doctors. It will also contribute to Medicare cuts. She would like to repeal and revise so we can get a reform with a lower cost and increassed acess.
I think that Kristi has a good idea to vote to repeal and revise the health care reform. If it cuts down costs for medical treatment in the U.S. we should be all for it. I also agree that medical relationship between a doctor and a patient should stay that way, the government doesnt have to be involved.
After months of campaigning, debating and politicking, Kristi Noem is on her way to the United States Congress. Noem had support in all corners of the state, but showed particularly well in western South Dakota. While she did campaign hard in that region, she admits the overwhelming support is a bit puzzling. Once in Washington, Noem says she hopes to serve on the agriculture committee.
Noem reflects on winning on Tuesday night. She is happy with the results, obviously and will take time to go around the state to thank the voters that supported her. She says she will try to please the people of South Dakota as a whole and not just the ones who supported her.
Kristi Noem believes she can change the bad that has been going on in Washington with out of control spending done by the Democrats. In the article she talks a lot about the time with her family and how she is going to try and balance that time the best she can. She also will do whats best for ALL South Dakotans!
"Across South Dakota, 62 percent of registered voters made it to the polls in the mid-term election. But there are drastic differences in voter turnout depending on the county."-Keloland News. This is true along with many other areas.
I think that everyone registered to vote needs to get to the polls and vote because their vote does count. They need to think of all the people that the election effects... It's my future too!
On Tuesday night nearly 204,068 voters voted yes to the smoking ban. This was good new for smoke-free supporters but many businesses are worried that this is going to affect them alot. Many bars and restaurants owner feel this is not right and unfair. On November 10th South Dakota will be smoke-free state.
I go both ways on this issue. I feel that if i owned a business I should have the right to decide if it should be smoke-free or not but i dislike the smell of smoke. I also think the state is taking to many right away for us.
The deaf community is extremely happy with the election of Dennis Daugaard. Daugaard's parents are both deaf, and the community of deaf people in South Dakota know that he will take better care of them since he knows the challenges of being deaf. He has served as an interpreter in the past, and hopes to spread awareness.
I think it is good that we have someone elected that can be a voice for the people that are struggling that we haven't taken notice of. It would be nice for more people to learn to interpret for these people. We are learning Spanish for the immigrants, why not learn signing for the people that are already here?
After completely losing the house to republicans, Obama is calling for common ground to be reached between democrats and republicans. When asked about how he felt about the election results, Obama stated that he was "sad, but confident that we will prevail." Obama is stinking to his previous statements that all choices he has made have been for the good of this country and not just for personal gain.
I feel that Republicans shouldn't have to find "common ground" with democrats now that they are in charge. Democrats did nothing but fillibuster their way through bills when they were the majority but now they call for an agreement? Talk about 2 faced. I think republicans and Tea party represenatives should just do what needs to be done to get this country back on track with OR without democratic help.
Smoking ban-The referred law broadens the State’s ban on smoking to apply to all restaurants, bars, package liquor stores, Deadwood casinos and video lottery establishments. It requires owners, managers, and operators of places where smoking is prohibited to inform violators of the smoking ban. The ban does not apply to tobacco shops, hotel rooms designated as smoking rooms, and existing cigar bars.
In South Dakota the smoking ban was passed. I think this is good for everyone. Maybe people will cut back on smoking. And the rate for cancer probably will go down because there will be less second hand smoke inhelation.
As of tuesday, Law 12 has been expanded to further measures. This ban now causes bars to build smoking areas in order to have smokers in their bar. This was created as an extension of the measure already in place that states smoking in public areas and also workplaces.
My belief is that smoking should stay banned in public places and workplaces... but in bars, casinos, and lottery halls? I think that is just going a little to far because smoking has always been permitted in these places and sometimes people that smoke need a place to go, but if you ban them from everywhere, what will they do?
Obama Invites GOP Leaders to White House; McConnell Remains Defiant, after the elections on tuesday Obama invites leaders to congress ro discuss the taxcuts and the furture of america. but the repulbican leader McConnell is determined to not have Obama in the White House next Presidental election.
I think that it is good that people are strating to notice that Obama is not doing all he promised to do because all he said was we need change but he never stated what change was going to do and people are starting not to like what he is doing that is why there are some many new people in the house.
http://www.ksfy.com/Global/story.asp?S=13442248 Dennis Daugaard was on the road as soon as he found out he was the next governor of South Dakota. He wasn't going to celebrate he was now going to work immediately. Daugaard says there are a few problems with the South Dakota budget that he'd like to fix. I believe this could be just a scare for the public from the governor. As i don't believe somebody can come into right away and make that big of an impact on the state of South Dakota. He may be just saying this so for all of the people that didn't vote for him it looks like now he's doing something when they thought he wouldn't do anything at all.
proposition 19 the prop in california to allow recreational use of marijuana. the proposition also allowed the use of hemp products.
this should have passed because all the tax and revenue from the sale of these products could have drasticlly lowered the deficit. this could have also led to a slight decrease in the federal deficit. the export could have helped to lower our national debt.
My article is about the opposed article to legalize medical marijuana. 65 percent of voters opposed the article. The article was brought up in compassion to help those that were in pain. The people who opposed the article thought that legalizing it made it easier for those who wanted marijuana for recreational purposes to get it.
I think that we should have legalized medical marijuana. The people that want it only for recreational purposes already are getting it whether it is illegal or not. I do see the point, however that it would make it easier. Many doctors in states that have legalized medical marijuana have gotten in trouble for giving people who don't actually need it perscriptions.
Republicans picked up 690 state legislative seats -- a near record and a better showing than even their congressional and gubernatorial victories. The revival comes just in time for 2011 redistricting.
I think the 2010 voting results for SD and Nation wide results will have a major effect on our society for what kind of bils get aproved ect..the majority for both was Republicans and I think that will be very different from how things were before the election
Two Senate races remain uncalled Thursday morning in Alaska and Washington State, and 10 House seats are still too close to call. In the Alaska Senate race, CNN has projected that the Democratic candidate will finish in third place, but in the Washington race the Democrat holds a small lead over Republican Dino Rossi. On the House side, the 10 races yet to be decided include Arizona, California, Illinois, Kentucky, New York, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. All these seats are currently held by a Democrat.
I was surprised to see two days after elections, that there are this many still undecided races. I like that even though all the house seats that are left undecided have been held by democrats, that the republicans are still ruling in numbers in the House.
The house of represenative has voted in 192 democrats and 243 republicans. Our canidates were obviously Kristi Noem and Stephanie herseth/Sandlin. Noem won our election for the repblican side.
I think electing Noem for our House represenative proves that our State of South Dakota is looking for some changes. We have changed from Herseth to Noem and hopefully this will be a positive change for our society and state. I think it will be because she is a powerful women who knows what she wants.
~A transition team is in place to help Governor-elect Dennis Daugaard and Lt. Governor-elect Matt Michels to prepare to lead South Dakota. The team will work on to identify and screen candidates for the Cabinet and Governor's staff, to develop policy proposals for the upcoming legislative session. The team members include: 1.)Deb Bowman, of Pierre, 2.)Ryan Budmayr, of Belle Fourche, 3.)Jason Glodt, of Pierre, 4.)Dusty Johnson, of Mitchell,5.)Tony Venhuizen, of Sioux Falls.
~I think that Daugaard is an okay guy to be honest i really didn't watch the election. But I think that Daugaard would do a good job at coming up with a legislative session for South Dakota.
Kristi Noam won the election for the Republicans with 153,703 votes against Herseth who was at 146,580 votes. Measure 13 did not pass, banning smoking did pass, admendment k did not pass and admendment L did not pass.
Kristi Noam wants our world to do some changing. She is a strong women and hopefully our state will be better. For the measures, some people are upset and some are happy with the results. I think im both ways. We have to obey the new laws if we like it or not.
My current event is about the smoking ban that was passed on Tuesday. South Dakota will know be smoke free in all public places starting on November 10, 2010. The smoking ban passed by more than 100,000 votes. Some of the small business owners are worried about losing business because of the smoke ban. They are worried that people that smoke won't come as much, they will just stay home instead.
I am glad to see that South Dakota is deciding to go smoke free. It will be nice to be able to go out an eat without worring about leaving smelling like smoke. Parents also won't have to worry about finding somewhere to take their children to eat, where they know there won't be anyone smoking.
My current event deals with the Smoking ban fines. It talks about if someone were to smoke, who would be the one to tell them they cant and enforce the new law. One bar owner says that he would tell them that they cant smoke, but would never call the police on the person smoking. But there might be other people who are offended by the persons smoking and call the police on them. The police don't think this will be a big problem though. If someone does get caught by the police, then they will be charged $25.
I think that it will be hard to enforce this law and that it will be broken. I like that the ban past because it can stop a person from smoking because it may become a hassle and it also helps the health of others by not breathing in the smoke. It will be different to walk into a resturant and not being asked "Smoking or non-smoking?"
Representative Kristi Noem expects the House to use it's control of the federal purse to get rid of the health reform bill. "Without funding, it will be difficult if not impossible to put this legislation in place," she said Friday in an interview in Sioux Falls. The bill was built to work in stages over several years, but without the money that the Republican ruled House controls the law could be overturned.
Since so many people were angry about the way the Democrats were handling reform, I think most will be happy about the overturn. After all, it is what they've been asking for.
My current event is about the high number of elections still up in the air. The election was over a week ago, and there are still 9 nation-wide or high state-wide elections that are still undecided. There are 7 seats in the House in question, the Minnesota Governor, and the Alaska Senate race. It states that democrats are leading all the House races, but most only by a few hundered votes.
There will now be recounts, lawsuits, and confusion as to who will win and when will it be declared. The outcomes of these races could cause a real stir in Congress and in the big scheme of the government right now. However, it may be late November to even December before the last race is decided.
Everyone was sure that the republicans would win in many states because people are tired of over spending in a struggling government. WIth the Republicans winning 60 seats in the house, they have control. In the senate, the republicans won 6 seats, making the gap much smaller. The democrats still have control over the senate and office, but hopefully we'll see some changes.
I think it is good that we are getting more conservative people into government to check and balance what is happening in Washington. Our nation is in debt, and we need to start getting back on track and pull ourselves out of this hole we have dug.
On Tuesday nights elections the power was shifted from the democrats to the republicans. Huge strides were also made in the South Dakota capitol by the republicans. One senator says that it has been decades since the senate has been this lopsided.
I think that the democrats and republicans should be more balanced. This will help all of us, by giving both sides a chance.
my post is about voter registration equipment being stolen in Nigeria. now you might think it would be okay if you could vote, but what if all your stuff was stolen. whoever did it must have been in a bad mood.
Kristi Noem won the election against Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. It was a close race, but she did it. The smoking ban in SD also passed. Making it illegal to smoke in bars, resturants, and casinos.
I think Kristi Noem winning is a good change for the state. The smoking ban is also a good change. It will be nice going places and not leaving smelling like smoke.

Daugaard Names Transition Team
After all, it is what they've been asking for.
http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/11/10/well-past-election-day-nine-races-still-air
