The mother of wikileaks founder julian assange has gone into hiding in australia saying shes reacting as any mother would and is extremely stressed by a global manhunt targeting her son. christine assange who runs a puppet theater in australia's gueensland state told the countrys sunshine coast daily newspaper that shes temporarily moved to an undisclosed spot on the coast to escape media scrutiny.
I dont think she is tottally wrong in doing this she doesnt want to have to deal with the media so she is just hiding from them its not that big of a deal the media should just not try to get to her in the first place because it was her son and not her.
South Korea plans to tout its military prowess with more drills in the Yellow Sea as soon as this month, as U.S. warships leave Korean waters today after four days of joint exercises meant to threaten and deter Pyongyang.
This weeks drills included the USS george washington one of the worlds largest nuclear-powered aircraft carriers along with about 10 other vessels and more than 7300 soldiers and sailors from both countries. On the heels of pyongyangs deadly bombardment of a south korean island last week the drills aimed to demonstrate South Korea's military might with steadfast American support.
this is a good idea to help out a country not by helping them fight but by teaching them how to fight so they can keep on protecting themselves for years after when we arnt there to help with the muscle jobs.
3 feet of snow has piled up in Lead,SD, but people are actually happy because its getting time for winter sports like skiing and snowmobiling. Terry peak opens this weekend and many people are excited to hit the slopes and it should be a busy weekend.
Im glad people in Lead are not mad that snow fell and i feel that with all the snow it will bring small businesses the chance to show themselves once again this year.
Political: Miller from South Dakota says he is happy that the job of lieutenant governer is now a full time job. This is the first year that South Dakota has ever had a full time lieutenant governer and many beleive that it will be good for SD
I beleive that having this position full time will help south dakota in moving forward and they will have more time to spend on little issues instead of just hitting the big ones
1. on Tuesday the senete voted for a wide range overhaul of the nations food safty system.the Food and Drug Administration would be given greater oversight to handle various recalls. the angency would be given power over mandatory recalls of various food items.
i havent noticed anything in the news recently about any food recalls. either there are a lot that im just not noticeing, or this is a peemptive act of prevention just in case contamination everhappens again.
2.China is appealing to all side of the Korean issue to avoind conflict. But South Korean Defense Ministry officials said Wednesday they are in talks for another major exercise with the United States to take place as early as this month. China wants everyone to "keep calm and exercise restraint."
i agree with china. i really don't was the koreas to get into a war. China is North Korea's ally and we are South Korea's ally. and we have deep trade relations with chinami want to stay optemistic that we will stay out of it if they do go to war, but we'll probably help them out and China will help n.korea out and we'll be against each other and trade relations will get all screwed up.
Millions may lose jobless benefits as holidays loom. Extended unemployment benefits for nearly 2 million Americans begin to run out Wednesday, stopping a steady stream of income and guaranteeing a dismal holiday season for people already struggling with bills they cannot pay. so far they have extended the unemployment benifits for 99 weeks, this week and next week are the last weeks that anybody will be getting any money.
i think these people are not looking very hard to find a job. there has to be some kend of job out there for them to work at. even if it is fast food or at wal mart. they cant just rely on government to give them easy money and not have to work for it at all.
Choice-Three boys have been kidnapped from a little town in Michigan. Almost everyone in their town has been helping search for anything that might give a clue as to where they might be. They were last seen by their father, who says he gave them to a female aquaintance to give to their mother. Athorities knew he was lying and arrested him. The search will continue until they find the boys or a tip comes in.
I think it is terrible that any father would kidnap his own children, and possibly kill them. They had nothing to do with any problems between the mother and father and are being tortured because of it. I hope they are found safe and sound.
Poitics-Many people that have gotten extended unemployment benefits will be cut off today. Democrats thought they should extend them for another year, but they were blocked by Republican Senator Scott Brown. "It's not the way to do business in the United States Senate, and if it is it needs to change," Brown said.
I think Brown is right. We can't keep handing out money to people with no jobs. What if they keep getting money and never look for a job? I think it's teaching people to sit back and the government will take care of all their problems.
My first current event is about a woman who claims to own the sun. This woman, Angeles Duran, got the idea to try and be the owner of the sun when she heard about Dennis Hope, Nevada entrepreneur, posted a similar claim in 1980 with the United Nations for ownership of the moon and proceeded to sell acres of lunar real estate. She used the same loophole that Hope used: getting around the United Nations Outer Space Treaty, adopted in 1967, that stipulates "outer space is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means." Basically she filed for ownership as an idividual not a country. The U.N. doesn't recognize the "ownership" as well as many others thinking that it is illegal to own celestial bodies.
I think that the ability for one person to own a whole planet should be illegal, but I do feel that someday in the future (probably way down the road) people will eventually be able to own land and live on other planets.
My second current event is about the food safety bill. A vote was taken on November 30 in the Congress. 73-25 was the final outcome with all democrats voting for along with 15 republicans. However this bill still needs to get through the House before it becomes an actual bill.
I think that this would help the food industry be more respected with better regulations making sure that the food on the table is safe and not start something bad.
My political event is called "House to Vote on Healthier School Lunches Bill". The bill is designed to push greasy foods off the school lunch line and sugary drinks out of vending machines.
The president and his wife are pushing for this 4.5 billion dollar bill. It is also suppose to expand feeding programs for low-income students.
I think this bill will be passed and is a good idea to get healthier lunches in schools where childhood obesity is out of control.
This current event is called "Rosa Parks' legacy endures decades later". Today marks the 55th anniversary of her civil disobedience on December 1, 1955. Rosa Parks received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1996. She became a symbol of the civil rights movement. Parks died in Detroit, Michigan, in 2005.
This event was very important in 1955, so i think its important to remember it on this day. 55 years ago a woman boarded a bus that help changed civil rights in the US forever.
Larry long has recently recived a award for distinguished service. The South Dakota State Attorneys Association prounced it to him. last year larry was apponted as a judge, but before that he worked as a prosucuter for 36 years.
I think it is time that people who actually have worked hard and have done a good job. it seems like now somebody who did one good thing and was in the limelight get all the big awards. the people that have worked for 36 years and have did all the backround behind the scenes work deserve the credit. not the young whipper snappers who have done nothing and think they are awesome.
The current event of my choice is called "Is Kinect the new Wii this holiday season?" And if you are wondering the answer is yes. This game is just as popular and just as hard to find in stores back in the day as the Wii was. After only 25 days in the market, It has managed to sell 2.5 million Kinects. On average that is about 10,000 per day! One thing that might make them more popular than the Wii system is that its about $100 cheaper.
I think that it is crazy how insane people go to try and get the latest thing, although I understand. I was one of the lucky ones who was able to get a Wii for christmas one year. I think that this holiday season, people will find the Wii system at lots of place and wont be hard to find. This will give other people a chance to find a Wii system to give to their kids.
My political current event is called "WikiLeaks: How could one person leak so much classified material?" Bradley Manning has been accused for providing a video of military operations in Iraq to WikiLeaks. But the government thinks he holds more documents that he could post to ruin US secrecy. Although he was on the top of his game, very intelligent, he was spoiled in Iraq with computers and an air conditioned room.
I have heard this on the news for the last week, it is definately a "hot topic." I believe that this person is wrong in what he did. What he did should be against the law since he gave out secrets of the government. Although I don't think that the government should keep secrets, it probably is good for us citizens not to know what they are. These secrets should be kept confidential and they were not.
The repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" has one in four people planning to or thinking of leaving sooner then their original plans because of the change. However Army Gen. Carter Ham emphazied the fact that predictions won't always translate into concrete plans.
Even the the repeal could make for some uncomfortable ans distraction situations, I think many were overreacting to the repeal. If being in the military is truely what they want to do, then they will find a way around their prejudices.
A Northeast Wisconsin School Standoff plans to reopen Wednesday after a 15 yr old sophmore asked to go to the bathroom than went to his locker to get two guns. He than went back to the classroom where he held his classmates and teachers hostage. He made everyone give up there cell phones so they couldnt call for help. He didnt harm anyone but he did shoot himself at the very end of the five hours and died the next morning due to the gun wound.
I personally think that this goes to show that you never know how secure you really are in school. This could happen anywhere, even here;because of how easy it is to bring weapons into the school. People do crazy things and it just makes me think about our security.
In Washington President Obama meet with the GOP and talked about how he needed to reach out further to the Republicans, since they have gained 6 democratic-controlled senate. The Republican leaders and Obama agreed that they wanted to work together, but also acknowledged that they will have sharp differences on some major issues.
I think that this is a good step for our Senate, to have the Republicans working with President Obama more, even though they have different views they can work on come together and maybe finding that comprimising is the best way, and also relizing that there might be a way to get both democatic and republican views across.

The lastest snow storm was deadly for one Southwest Minnesota man. The Rock County Sheriff's Office says they found the body of 64-year old Arnold Halverson Tuesday morning. He was buried in the snow near the small town of Kenneth. He was found a few feet from his car that was stuck in the ditch. The car was stuck in the ditch about a half mile from his home. The sheriff's office said that because of the size of the drift, they think the car was stuck there all night and he tried to walk to for help. The South Dakota Highway Trooper said, it is very dangerous to get out of your car ond try to walk for help. It is better to stay in your car and call for help or wait for someone to come and help. You should stay in your car out of the cold weather, but before doing so you need to check the muffler on your car. You need to make sure that the muffler isn't in the snow bank so the carbon monoxide isn't coming back into your car.
I think it is important not to leave your car and try to walk for help because the weather may not look very bad but it can change fast. People also need to know that they need to check their muffler on their car and make sure it is not covered in snow or that can be just as deadly.
Politicly:
Kristi Noem, South Dakota Representative, was elected to the freshman class leader for the House of Representatives. It is the largest new group of Congressional members in the past 60 years with over 100 new members elected in the mid-term election. Noem says she's excited about the leadership position and for the opportunities it will give South Dakota to have a seat at the table with experienced leaders in Washington.
I think Kristi Noem will do a good job representing South Dakota. She knows how small business's work and will think of the people first. And with such a big freshman class and her as the leader, she says they have a chance to make changes on Capitol Hill.
My first current event it called "Military Seeks to Deliver Caffine Jolts Without Java"
The Government and people supporting our soldiers are trying to find new ways to have caffine with soldiers at all time. When out on patrol, you don't have a facility where you can make some coffee and be good to go, so now they are making caffine injected beef jerky, 5hour enery, amped up sunflower seeds and stuff easy for soldiers to carrt with them. The scientists making these foods are trying to make them have the energy and nutrients that the body nees, have a long shelf life, and most important, make them atleast taste good enought that soldiers will eat them.
I think its a great idea to make energy bars and food for soldiers out in the field. Being enlisted in the Army to be in the infantry, i am sure the energy suppliments us soldiers can get will be potentially a life saver. If we are able to always have energy and be on guard, we can spot danger coming.
The second event is called "Republican lawmakers compete to lead key house comitees"
It goes into detail about how to pick a lead republican. There are three guys really fighting over the spot. Some Republicans say that, no matter the outcome, the new chairmen have already been shaped by voter anger toward spending and deficits, embracing policy changes they had considered anathema as recently as a year ago.
Thats the problem with the world, we want whats best for ourselve and not others. we have to learn to work together to accomplish things.
Choice: http://keepachildalive.org/ There is a profound difference between living and life. Living may extend time for another day. But life is far more than sleeping and waking. Life is more than merely existing. And, although it would be easier, life cannot be bought in a pill. That is why Keep A Child Alive buys more than just the pills needed to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.
Today stars are shutting off all social networking until the foundation raises 1 million dollars for AIDS! I hope they can do it and educate people about AIDS and how it can change and ruin your life!
Political:2 million people in America lose unemployment benefits close to the holidays.
I think it's sad that people are losing all income and they won't be able to give their kids a good Christmas! I think you can find a job in the food industry that makes decent money you are only getting 300 dollars from the government every week you would think they would be able to make that or more being a waiter.
my current event is on the rupture in the oil pipeline in michigan.
people say that last spill underscored the dangers of the united states reliance on fossil fuels. On july 25 the pipeline ruptured and spilled nearly a million gallons of oil into a tributary of the kalamazoo river in southwestern michigan.
my opinion on this is i think they need to put some kind of sensors or monitor so they will know if the oil is leaking out and if the oil is leaking out i think they need to install a shut off valve so they can immediatley shut the oil off so they can prevent as little leakage as possible.
senate republicans promised wednesday to block legislative action on every issue being considered by the lame duck congress until the dispute over extending the bush era tax cuts is resolved and an extension of current government funding is approved.
Nearnly 2 million Americans began to run out on Wednesday, cutting off a steady stream of income and a dismal holiday season for people already struggling with bill that they cannot pay. The average weekly employment benefit in the US is $302.90. About 2 million will be cut off by Christmas. People are dreading the holidays because they are begging for jobs to keep up with their bills.
This is really sad that the jobs are decreasing and people cant find any jobs. Our national debt is seriously high with $13.8 million. People are dreading the holidays because they cant buy any presents because they have no money. We need to get this settled.
Choice:
For the second time in November, Heavy Air Polution in Iran had the goverment and schools close for two days. It is esimated that there will be $130 million in financial losses because everyone is advised to stay home.
Politics:
Republicans are holding off thier business until the democracted finish thier decisions on the bush-era tax cuts
In Washington there are troubles with what they're calling "WikiLeaks". As some legal documents have been leaked through Wikipedia and some other common social sites. 250,000 documents are said to be leaked now through web sites.
I believe that some of this is the governments fault. The government can control what goes out into the world and what stays inside with them and I think most things should stay with them as it's all private.
The University of Miami AD has set up a meeting on Wednesday with Jon Gruden to talk about having Gruden possibly fill the football coaching vacancy. Jon Gruden first said he had no interest in the job but now has shown some interest as he's meeting with the AD sometime on Wednesday, December 1st.
As a huge Miami fan I'm very excited that we could possibly get a coach like Gruden. In the past we've tried bringing up coordinators to fill the positions but they hasn't really worked out. With a guy like Gruden not only attendance would go up in Miami but more recruits would start coming in and that's the key to winning.
My frist current event is on the death of funny man Leslie Nielsen, made famous by his serious works and than again by his funny works. His most famous line from "Airplane!", "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.". He also starred in many other movie most that i have seen, one of my favorite actors, gone before his time. He will be greatly missed along with his comedy.
My second current event is on the new Food safety Bill. The Bill was cuase a major power shift in the FDA, swinging new people into power and more supervisers into farms, slaughterhouses, and other food related places. How will this affect us? Slightly higher food cost, on things like eggs, corn and meant. Selling and shareing from your own garden, which would no longer be allowed. And enhancment in public health? But I'm wondering wich one i rather have, the right to sell my own food from my garden? Or greater public health, which can be gained in other ways, becides this new health bill.

The Senate has passed a safety bill to give more power to the Food and Drug Administration , more than a year after the House of Representatives passed a similar measure. The bill, designed to raise the safety of the nation's food supply, passed 73-25.The bill, called the Food Safety Enhancement Act covers many aspects of food safety, including better preventive control measures by manufacturers, more frequent inspections of facilities and greater FDA authority over recalls. The bill is supposed to help the government and food manufacturers handle situations like recent recalls on lettuce, peanuts and eggs.
I think it is a great idea. Then we will most likely have less problems with people getting ill from contaminated food. Sometimes people can even die from food contamination and that is not necessary. So I think this is good!
An act of civil disobedience 55 years ago, Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of a bus, made the seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama, a pivotal symbol in America's civil rights movement.Wednesday marks the 55th anniversary of the civil disobedience on December 1, 1955.
I think it is great that we are acknowledging this. She made a drastic difference in US history. She helped get equal rights for all people. She was a very brave and respectable person.
My current event of my choice is that a two Sacramento County elementary schools had to close because of no income. many parents were upset as were the students
I think this is wrong because how are those kids going to learn now. not only that but how are they going to make new friends.
My current event on politics is when White House press secertary, Robert Gibbs said that the WikiLeaks were putting our diplomats in danger. This could be dangerous because it could lead to lawsuits and so forth.
I think this is bad because WikiLeaks had no reason to do it in the first place it might be bad because what if they fell into the wrong hands.
In Jackson Missouri and native man was aquitted of a DWI after claiming that he drank in order to keep warm. Reports say that help came about 2 hours after and in that time is when he claims he drank in order to keep warm. All this happend after a night of fun with friends and then veering of the road into the culvert, he claims.
I think that is a horrible excuse because noone would think that way and it just happend after a night with friends. He obviously can't be charged but still should have some punishment because the court should be able to see through his lies.
"Damage control" are two words that are floating around the white house recently. The Bp oil spill is one of the main concerns as it continues to leak.
Things like these need to be control and im sure there is a way to do it but money, time, and energy are key factors that keeps Bp from fixing this. I think that the government needs to crack down and chip in while forcing Bp to fix this problem.
According to CNN, Obama recently stated that he "may" put off his hawaiian vacation in order to talk tax cuts with Republicans during this lame duck session. He even said he would go up to Christmas Eve working.
I find this seriously surprising. The fact that Obama will do anything other than take ANOTHER vacation is surprising. I think this just all blow and no show from him since his track record on these issues is pretty bad.
Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh stated in his live radio show that Republican leadership does NOT need to work with Obama. He talked about how B. Obama is working with congressional democrats and Republicans alike.. Or at least trying to..
I think Rush is right that Republicans should not in fact, work with Obama. Obama has messed up, and because of this, should be completely left out of all descision making and just left to do nothing in the White House.
Disgusting....
This may be one of the most disgusting current events ever posted. A woman in the US is trying to become the fattest woman in the world. Donna Simpson, 42, from New Jersey, weighs 600 pounds but told the Daily Mail newspaper she had her heart set on reaching her goal weight of 1000lb in two years. In 2007 she became the largest mother in the world when she gave birth to a daughter when she was 530 pounds. Her 49 year old patner, supports her in this goal. She says, "I think he'd like it if I was bigger ... he's a real belly man and completely supports me." **gag** Her weekly grocery bill is $815, and to make money to buy all this food she has a website where men go to pay to watch her eat fastfood.
This is disgusting... that's all there is to it!
Political...
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/12/01/social-security-cuts-deficit-plan/
Obama's debt panel calls to reduce the debt to $421 billion by 2015. They have many ideas that they will try to implement to try to reduce the debt.
I'm not sure if this is going to work, the current debt is in the trillions. It will take years and a total revamp of the current system to overcome that.
1. A Wisconsin High School is reopening today after it had had a hostage situation. Sam Hengel held his sophomore social studies class at gunpoint for about 6 hours. This ended with the 16 year old shooting himself. He died the next day from the gun shot wound.
This sort of situation is very disturbing. No one believes something like this will ever happen to them until it does. Growing up with your fellow classmates then seeing them take a turn for the worst would be a horrible shock for any teenager. Luckily none of them were harmed, but it is a tragedy indeed that it had to happen in the first place.
2.Today is World AIDS Day, and the government has explained that there has been a decline of about 20 percent in the world in the past decade. In 2001, an estimated 89,000 children in Asian countries were suffering with AIDS.
This is a horrible occurence in the world, we best continue to support the change to make it so less people in the world have to suffer from a horrible disease such as AIDS.
My second is that the number of students dropping out of high school is turning around and is decreasing. They say if the high school graduation rates are to reach the goal of 90 percent by 2020, the states will have to increase their improvements fivehold. The government provided $3.5 billion to help 730 struggling schools.
That is a good thing that the drop out rates are going down. The students need to learn and have a good school to learn in for a better life as they get older.
Today marks the 55th anniversary of the civil disobedience on December 1, 1955. Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus for a white man. But Parks refused to give up her seat, and police arrested her. Four days later, Parks was convicted of disorderly conduct. "I think that she, as the mother of the new civil rights movement, has left an impact not just on the nation, but on the world," U.S. Rep. John Conyers. She plays a big part on the civil right movement.
I think Rosa Parks played a huge part in the civl rights movement. I think she turned the world around and madepeople realized that everyone should be treated eqaul no matter what color you are.
Obama administration officials will announce Wednesday afternoon they will not allow offshore oil drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico or off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts as part of the next five-year drilling plan, according to sources briefed on the plan, reversing two key policy changes President Obama announced in late March.
I think this is good because ther is other places we can look or oil, and with everything that has happened with the oil spill i think we should give it a break.
Staff Sgt. Robert G. Stevens is the first of seven soldiers to face charges for misconduct while being deployed in Afghanistan. He is facing alleged sport killings of Afghan citizens, and he has pleaded guilty to four of five charges made against him. "Earlier hearings and court filings painted a picture of a group of soldiers gone rogue, accused of killing civilians, covering up the murders and keeping body parts as war trophies. Some of the men also are said to have taken pictures of themselves posing with dead civilians."
I think this is really awful and that most if not all of the soldiers on trial will be found guilty. It's ok to be angry about the actions of the leaders of these people, but is definately not ok to take it out on innocent civilians.
Democrats are trying to pass a range of priorities in the lame duck session. The Bush-era tax cuts are scheduled to expire December 31. Republicans promise to block legislative progress until tax spending issues resolved. House will vote Thursday on extending cuts for those making $250,000 or less.
I think it will be nice for the families that aren't getting paid a ton to actually get a chance to make some money. Its also nice so that people can now go on vacations and do some of the fun stuff that they would normally not get to do.
Roberts hosts CNN's "Losing Lennon: Countdown to Murder" Saturday at 8 p.m. Next week marks the 30th anniversary of Lennon's slaying. He recalls learning of Lennon's death as a music journalist in Canada. Quote "It was one of those moments where time seems to slow down and the mind considers a hundred questions before finally settling on the truth."
I don't know much about him but when i read it i was really said how he died and i feel for his family. He was so young when he died too. He didn't get the chance to live a full healthy life.
The United States government has a new prototype for a gun for the US army. This gun shoots 25mm bullets and makes them explode at a certain distance. This allows the troops to neutralise the troops hiding behind walls. With the use of this new gun the war in Afganistan is going to make the United States have the "leg up".
I think that this gun is a good idea it will make the troops be able to get the hiding insurgents. It will also possibly scare the enemy into ending the war because there is no safe place to hide. The longer range of this gun also makes the United States Army less likely to be killed.
On the Conner O'Brien's show Charles Barkley bashes President Oboma's basket ball playing skills. He said that "I am an old, fat guy, but i will kick his ***". This statement has put a lot of controversy on the hands of President Obama, but in the end Charles Barkley said they were friends.
I think that the president has a lot of other things he needs to do with all the new national security needs. Sure the president can have some vacation's but it seems like he is always going someplace and costing the country millions of dollars. I think that he needs to spend his time in the US. focusing on the needs we have going on right now.
Coach Josh McDaniels of the Denver Broncos was fired this past monday, making him the third head coach to be fired this season. Their owner is hoping that a new coach will rebirth the team like the Vikings and Cowboys have done. But with two coachs they still have to pay off, it will be hard to pay a good head coach. Running backs coach Eric Studesville will serve as interim coach for the final month
I think that owners are turing to the coach too soon. A lot of the time it is just the players poor additude and their will to win is not there. Owners need to get after their coachs to get after their players instead of just firing them. Players need to play their hardest no matter who it is for.
South Dakota Schools could be looking at more cuts from state government. Governor Mike Rounds will give the details of his proposed state budget during a speech presented to the South Dakota Legislature tomorrow.
I hope that Dennis comes to office and stops the cuts to schools because schooling fuels our future. Without education we wouldn't go anywhere. It is important that we try to make school experience better through teachers, administrators, or facilities.
Leslie Frazier says that the Vikings had lost their identity before he became head coach. So far since he returned to the basics it produced a road win which the Vikings had not experienced for a while. Frazier says that Childress got to excited about having a hall of famer quarterback(Brett Favre). When Favre joined the Vikings he said he was glad to be on a team with a good running game so he wouldn't have so much pressure on him, but for last years season he passed alot, and they rarely ran the ball.
I think that it is awesome that Brad Childress was fired. It is about time. It took to many losses for it to happen. He made to many poor disicions.
Bradley Manning, a spoiled man who was spoiled with computers in Iraq, leaked information to Wikileaks. He may have more information that could ruin the US secresy.
It discuss' me that any US citizen would do anything to hurt there country. I hope notihng like this will happen in the future.
look at blog page, sorry
http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/celebrity.news.gossip/12/08/snooki.new.years.eve.ppl/index.html?hpt=Sbin
My first current event is about Snooki(Jersey Shore cast member) has agreed to crawl inside the ball that will drop in New York City's Time Square as the clock turns to midnight on New Year's Eve. Her other castmate will be hosting an hour long celebration before the dropping of the ball and attempt to beat the world record for fist pumping.
I think this is a really cool idea. I mean how many people get to crawl inside the ball ant dropped. I also think its a really cool idea to try and beat a world record.
http://whitehouse.blogs.cnn.com/2010/12/09/obama-skips-debt-commission-meeting/
My second current event is about Obama skipping the debt commission meeting. Many of his democratic supporters were very angry about this and thought he should of at least stopped by. Obama said he missed that meeting because he had a more important one.
I think it is not ok for our own President to miss an important meeting. He should of at least been there for as much as he could of it. He needs to make a better effort to get there and to help with this country.
19 year old Mohamed Osman Mohamud attempted to bomb a Christmas tree lighiting in Portland. He wanted to kill as many people as he could. Wanting them all to leave either dead or injured. The bombs he was planning on using were really dumby bombs set up by the FBI.
I dont understand how a person could want to kill all of those people. He was only 19. It just shows that we always have to be on the look out and ready for anything.
Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer's flag sold for 2.2 million dollars. It accompanied him over 135 years ago.
I think that it is really neat that people are still interested in history. Although it's not very relevant to anything, I found it interesting.
Sarah Palin is in Haiti. She is there to see what is going on, and what we can do to help them. She hasn't commented on any operations going on.
I think it is cool that she is taking an initiative to help other people. Some people say that she is going to maybe run for president, and this may help her out because people will know that she is trying to help others.
A blizzard hits eastern south dakota, southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa. The strom was expected 3-6 inches in Sioux Falls with greater totals in southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa where 5-10 inches will likely fall. The blizzard was bad but we all need to remember that it is winter and we live in south dakota anything can happen with the weather.
Political:Senators get their first chance Monday to vote on the tax-cut deal struck by President Obama and Republicans, but whatever the outcome of the test vote, the White House expects the bill to pass by year's end.The legislation would avert a Jan. 1 increase in income taxes for nearly all Americans, including middle and high earners. The package also would renew a program of jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed and put in place a one-year cut in Social Security taxes.
I think that it is good and bad at the same time because we don't need to raise taxes to do all of this because it is just going to affect us and not the government to pay for anything. But we do need to help the jobless people but by doing that create jobs for them to do not just give them money.

Dozens of helicopters whir above Florida's valuable and sensitive veggie crops, sent up by farmers worried that an uncommon freeze could wipe out their harvests. The helicopter technique can be the last of line of defense, but it's expensive: It costs about $2,500 an hour to fly one helicopter over the crops, and the length of flights depends on a mix of temperatures and wind conditions.
This is important in our society becuase we need fruit and vegetables from the more tropical climates in the southern states like Flordia.

By this evening, the world learned what probably isn't so shocking to begin with: Partisan journalists like to give money to candidates and political organizations they often talk about on television.
I think this event shows just much people want money and their jobs help them that much more to get their thoughts out to the press for money and publicity.
The long awaited Senate vote brings the nation one step closer to paying less taxes for the next two years. The tax cut bill passed the senate with an 81-19 vote. South Dakota senators Tim Johnson and John Thune both voted in favor of bill, recognizing it isn't perfect, but applauding the bi-partisan efforts.Millions of Americans could keep thousands of dollars in their pockets. The tax cut bill easily passed the Senate and it took Republicans and Democrats working together to get the deal done.
To me i seems that everything is going up and one thing i find interesting is they want to bring down taxes but some people say that the prices of stuff should go down as well but noone now if stuff will go down.
